MES TO LEAD UNIT MEET ’08

Roaring cheers of spectators enveloped the covered court of Mater Ecclesiae School as the Our Lady of Assumption College (OLAC) dribblers and MES basketters opens the Area Meet last October 2, 2008.
Kim Baello and Lorenz Aldrin Espino’s strong maneuvers and ringless hoops brought baskets leading them to win against OLAC 17-75, SMIS, 52-53, Tiwalan 30-57, and CASA 42-54.
Balls clashed in the championship as they round-up the final score with a 5 point lead against SMIS, 53-48 granting them the right to head on the Unit Meet 2008.

Back to back: Mater won its second straight area meet crown in basketball

Once again, MES proved that they are a force to be reckoned when it comes to elementary basketball as they cruise past the mighty Sisters of Mary Immaculate School (SMIS) to win their second straight area meet crown.
In front of the hostile MES crowd, the determined and inspired MES little cagers put up a big lead early in the game and never relinquish it to the tune of 66-56 win over SMIS in the much anticipated championship match between the two powerhouse team last October 3, 2008.
Behind the leadership and consistent hot shooting of the dynamic duo of MES Kim Martin Baello and Lorenz Aldrin Epino, they beat in a convincing passion the quality talented teams OLAC 75-19 SMIS 53-52, Tiwalan 57-30 and CASA Del Niño Montessori 54-42 in the elimination round.
With the help of hardworking supporting casts like Gabby Conte, Dan Eniquez, Kristian Dorado, Caleb Adajar and CJ Milla, The MES team not only won the games and the championship but also the heart of their schoolmates, teachers and the whole Mater Community. “ I’m very much amazed and entertained on how the way they play! Congratulations to the boys and Sir Lem” Said Mr. Michael Alvarez.
As their coach, Mr. Lemuel Villanera, who guided the team for their second straight Area Meet crown, he can only describe the performance of his team in two words “ Simply Amazing” “ I’m very proud of these guys, they are my soldiers. They will not quit and definitely will not back down from any battle. They showed a lot of heart and poise during our games even though they are only 11-12 years young. They really stood out in our team’s battle cry. I’m very proud of them” Said the soft spoken Mr. Villanera.
